The Baltic Dry Index jumped 4.1% to 2,843 on Monday, its highest reading since July 15. The Capesize index, which tracks vessels that typically carry 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, climbed 6.2% to 4,564, a more than two-week high. The Panamax index, reflecting ships that usually transport 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, advanced 2.3% to 2,135, its highest level since July 21. The Supramax index also strengthened, rising to 1,610.
